Cleaning and caring for a reusable silicone product
A reusable silicone product only stays hygienic and comfortable if it's cleaned properly between uses. This is a general guide — always follow the specific instructions that ship in the box with your order, since they take priority over general advice.
Before first use
Wash the product once before using it for the first time, the same way you would before every subsequent use. This clears any residue from packaging and manufacturing.
After each use
- Rinse with warm (not hot) water immediately after use.
- Use a mild, unscented soap — avoid harsh detergents or alcohol-based cleaners, which can degrade silicone over time.
- Rinse thoroughly so no soap residue remains.
Drying and storage
- Pat dry with a clean, lint-free cloth or let it air-dry fully before storing.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Keep it separate from other products if storing in a shared drawer, to avoid material transfer between different types of silicone or plastic.
What to avoid
- Don't use boiling water unless the product's own instructions specifically say it's safe.
- Don't use oil-based lubricants or cleaners with silicone products — check the material compatibility notes in your instructions.
- Don't store while still damp, which can encourage bacterial growth.
